Back Pain

Back pain is a very common condition; at least eighty percent of people will experience it at some point in their lives. Back pain can interfere with your quality of life; daily and work-related activities may be difficult to perform. Luckily, most back pain disappears or gets better in a short period of time, anywhere from a few days to a few months with non-surgical care and treatment.

There are a number of causes of back pain, such as injury or trauma, which can lead to a number of issues such as a herniated or bulging disc, muscle strain or pinched nerves. Back pain can also be the result of a degenerative condition such as arthritis, osteoporosis or Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD).

There are a number of ways doctors can treat back pain, surgery being one of them. Back pain requiring surgery is rare and is typically only recommended after conservative treatments have failed to alleviate back pain.
